The condition of the soil below any build needs to be prepared properly so the structure does not subside, shift, or rise. A house pad is usually constructed for slab on grade buildings. The ground should be excavated and any bio-mass removed and clean fill dirt should be added and compacted.
Footings and monolithic slabs can be poured in which your home can be built on. We can do all of the site preparation, house pads, and pour the footings and slab for any project that you have. We serve the entire Lake Livingston, Texas area.
There are both pros and cons with a post and beam foundation. Some benefits are that your home can be lifted to a height above any flooding. The space between the ground and the bottom floor forms a crawl space in which you can access plumbing and wiring easily. The crawl space is also used as a storage area. One other benefit is that if insulated well the floor is off the ground and does not result in cold floors in cooler weather. Some cons include possibly more cost on larger structures and insect infestation.
